Joint Policing Committee

Ballinasloe Joint Policing Committee was established for the administrative area of Ballinasloe Town Council under the provision of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, and in accordance with the guidelines issued.

 The purpose of the Committee is to provide a forum where the Local Authority, Senior Garda Officers, Oireachtas members and Community interests, can consult, discuss and make recommendations on matters effecting the policing of their area.

 Ballinasloe Town Council was included in the pilot local authorities, with the first meeting taking place in 2006. The Committee comprises all 9 elected members of the Council, Manager & Town Clerk, 2 members of An Garda Siochana, 3 members of the Oireachtas and 3 Community representatives.
