The Fair and Festival Committee continue their work behind the scenes to organise another fair and festival for 2026.
The historic Horse Fair and Sales will take place on Sunday 4, Monday 5, and Saturday 10 October. The main festival weekend will run from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October, while the funfair will operate from Thursday 1 to Sunday, 11 October. The opening on Sunday 4 October will place a strong emphasis on the town’s equine heritage, with the Horse of the Fair and Pony of the Fair competitions. The festival soundstage and street stalls will also add to the busy atmosphere.
The main festival weekend will begin the following Friday, with family entertainment and live music, followed by the popular fireworks display at Ballinasloe Marina. Saturday will feature the final Horse Fair and Sales date, together with the Mare and Foal Classes and Sheep Fair. There will also be live entertainment and family activities. Sunday will feature a full day of festival entertainment, including the Dog Show, Craft Market, vintage displays, children’s activities and more. The motorbike stunt show will also return, providing an exciting display for visitors of all ages.
The Fair and Festival Committee consists of local volunteers who give their time to provide an enjoyable and welcoming festival that celebrates the town’s heritage and brings the community together. They would like to thank all sponsors, local businesses, Galway County Council, community organisations, clubs, volunteers and supporters for their continued assistance.
