Dunlo Hill native Tomás Waters currently serving as an Inspector based in Loughrea has been announced by the Minister for Justice as new Superintendent and been appointed to Longford Garda Station.
Superintendent Tomás Waters has transferred to Longford from the Galway division, where he was Governance Manager of the Performance Assurance Functional Area.
Tomás Waters a local resident, is the son of the late Garda Tom Waters and Mairin Waters of Dunlo Hill. Locally he has been a valued volunteer member of a variety of sporting and charitable organisations especially Community Games and the Rugby Club where has shouldered a number of key Officer positions.
Superintendent Waters holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Galway in addition to a professional certificate in governance, and previously, qualified from Trinity College in science and property economics. Prior to being promoted to Garda Superintendent, he held the rank of Inspector, and Detective Sergeant. Superintendent Waters has been in the force for just over 17 years. He takes up his new role in Longford with immediate effect.
