Ballinasloe Public Speakers’ Club held its second meeting in the Business Hub on Society Street recently. It was wonderful to welcome some more new faces and voices to the club.

This club is open to people from all walks of life and of all ages (from 18–100+). Do you want to improve your communication skills, need support preparing for an important presentation at

work, or have a special family or social event coming up at which you will need to speak? Or perhaps you realise it’s time to try to overcome your fear of public speaking? If so, then Ballinasloe Public Speakers’ Club can help.

The club is aiming to charter with Toastmasters International in the near future. Toastmasters is neither about toast nor simply making formal toasts. It’s the world’s leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enabling and empowering people across the world to improve and develop their communication and leadership skills.

With core values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence, the mission of a Toastmasters club is to “provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence”.

Toastmasters was founded 102 years ago by Ralph C. Smedley, who noted, “We learn best in times of enjoyment”.

Ballinasloe Public Speakers’ Club aims to prepare meetings that will empower all who walk through its doors to progress their communication and leadership skills at their own pace, in a safe, supportive and very enjoyable environment.

The next meeting will be in the Business Enterprise Hub, Society Street, Ballinasloe (H53 TH24), on February 26th at 7pm. All are welcome.
