The Public Speaking Club have been holding their meetings in the Enterprise Hub on Society Street every fourth Thursday of the Month. The group are delighted to announce that bi-monthly meetings will now take place on every second and fourth Thursday, beginning at 7pm each night.
At the first inaugural General Meeting recently, the committee was elected, taking over the reins from the original steering committee of the Public Speaking Group. The incoming committee comprises of: Siobhan Keenan Fitzgerald, President; Brian King, Secretary/Treasurer; Chris Collins, Vice-President of Education; Brendan Harding, Vice-President of Membership; Brian Derrane, Club PRO, and Pat Hillary and Trevor Wood as Failte Officers.
The members were delighted to wish Siobhan Fitzgerald best wishes as she prepared to compete in the final of the International Speech contest in Tralee at the Toastmasters Rose Conference for District 71 (UK and Ireland).
The International Speech contest is the pinnacle of Toastmasters competitions, and the Rose Conference is the annual flagship event. of District 71 Toastmasters. Members from across Ireland and the UK come together for three days of inspiration, workshops, contest finals, and networking. While Siobhan didn’t place in the top three of nine, she enjoyed and benefited from the experience.
There is an open invitation and open-door policy at the Toastmasters Club for members of the public, both locally and further afield, to attend the meetings. These meetings would appeal to anyone who wishes to overcome their nerves, gain inner confidence to speak up during meetings, present better at work, to pass their interview, or speak at a wedding or public event.
