The Ballinasloe Community Games are up and running again after two years of Covid lockdown, as the children get out and about again taking part in healthy sporting and cultural activities.
The Community Games programme of events in competitions in art, model making, and handwriting already having taken place, with music and quiz events also well underway. The big upcoming event is the Annual Community Games Sports, which will be held in Duggan Park on Thursday, June 9 at 6 pm. Boys and Girls aged 6 to 16 will take part in a wide range of events throughout the evening including 60m, 80m, 100m, 200m, 600m and 1200m races, hurdles and relay races. There’s fun promised for all ages as there will also be Mam's, Dad's, and Granny's races! Entries are confined to Ballinasloe Community Games Area and entry forms are available in schools and will be distributed to each child. July sees the team events like soccer, gaelic football, camogie, hurling, rounders, rugby, pitch and putt, and swimming, so there is plenty for everyone to get involved in.
