There was some good news discussed at this month’s Municipal District meeting as funding has been obtained from Galway County Council for the repairs needed at the athletics track at the Dunlo Recreational Park. The track has been out of action for a number of months now.
“It was very welcome news that we received from Director of Services, Catherine McConnell, that funding has been secured”, said Cllr Dermott Connolly.
He continued that if they work together in a positive way then they will achieve positive results.
Contractors are due to provide their programme of works in the coming days with a start date due to be announced shortly.
There are a number of layers that have to be constructed as part of the project. The only issue that may arise during these repairs is that the final top layer may be delayed. As winter is only around the corner, whether or not the top layer will be able to be put down is weather dependent. If it cannot be done, a temporary layer will be in place until the weather improves in the spring time.
