Following highly successful shows at Galway Theatre Festival, 2016 and Shorelines Arts Festival, Portumna last year, TURF returns to Co. Galway this Autumn. Produced by Ballinasloe born Michelle Cahill (McCullagh) in association with Rowan Tolley Company, TURF is a captivating, imaginative and original one-man show. “I’m delighted this show will reach more people in Galway. It’s a wonderful performance and a production I’m very proud of. I’m especially excited about taking the show to Ballygar Theatre + Arts Centre, a venue revived through hard work and dedicated local artsits, doing their best to bring high quality theatre and arts to a rural community.” TURF tells the short of one day, one man, one bog. Performed by Frank Farrell, directed by Rowan Tolley, TURF takes an audience on a visual and emotional journey, where the narrative resonates with echoes of tradition and reality. Situated somewhere deep within the Irish soul, it tells the story of one life but many selves. TURF searches for the truth in a hidden landscape. Sculpture, Installation, Performance, it explores not how to hold the TURF but how the TURF takes a hold of you. "At the mercy of nature, the block waits to cut, to spread, to foot, when it moves it lives." Friday 16th November, The Mall Theatre, Tuam 8pm.
