Niall Conneely - Future golf star!

Ballinasloe couldn't be prouder of its youngest sporting hero!   Niall Conneely is swiftly becoming a force to be reckoned with on the Golfing circuit - even though he is still just a senior infant at Creagh National School.

Niall is being coached by the Murphy Sweeney Golf School and is a member of the Ballinasloe Golf Club and it's easy to see that his practice is paying off - he won an under 6 junior competition last year and since then he has his eyes set firmly on wearing the green jacket at the Masters some day! 

On 2nd May 2016 Niall played in East Clare Golf Course in the "8 and under" regional qualifiers to the All Ireland  "Wee Wonders" Final Competition on July 17th in Rosses Point. His father told him not to expect too much as he's only 6 and they are 8, but Niall being the "wee wonder" that he is, shot 41 for 9 holes which is 5 over and won the qualifier by 10 shots.  He had the best score of the day from all age groups (obviously using shorter tees given his age).

​Like most 6 year old boys he absolutely loves soccer and of course as it's a team sport there's definitely no harm in him diversifying a little ;-)

He's a big Man United fan. His main heroes are Anthony Martial, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. 

We'll definitely be keeping our eyes on this young lad - just as he will be keeping his eye firmly on the ball!!
