Recently the TOPE Resource and TOPE RT held an Art Exhibition entitled “My Favourite Thing” in the Church Gallery at the New Ballinasloe Library. They produced a booklet of some of the work on display with the assistance of TOPE Print and each artist included a quote about a favourite thing of theirs. The exhibition ran for two weeks and the launch was held in conjunction with the TOPE RT Graduation and QQI Awards and certificates were also presented to individuals who had attended the Start Your Own Business Course organised by the Lets Get To Work project earlier in the year. It was a great success and even received funding for their booklet and exhibition from the Arts Abu programme run by Galway County Council
Seventeen individuals displayed work in the exhibition that they had worked on over eight weeks. The exhibition featured mixed media of painting, collage and pastel work on canvas supported by Joyce Little, Visual Art Tutor under cooperation from the Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board. The aim of the class is to support learners in developing an understanding and appreciation of the art, design and craft process through participation in a comprehensive programme. Learners in the group are encouraged to shape and direct their own creative process by using their own ideas thus developing decision making and assertiveness skills and improving confidence while also working as part of a team. The class also provides opportunities to link with the wider community through exhibiting their work and participating in other events.
